Illustration Work
I’ve done a lot of illustration, and am particularly proud of teaming up with my brother (we call ourselves The Brothers Hilts) to illustrate and publish three picture books worldwide in many different languages. On my own I’ve also illustrated and designed book jackets, record covers, and other published pieces. It’s my passion for the art of storytelling and the creative process.

The Insomniacs
Our first book, The Insomniacs, was published by Penguin/Putnam. It was an incredible experience collaborating, not only with my brother but the editors as well. We worked for a year on getting the artwork right, learning about the pacing of a book, the art of the page turn and really trying to understand the audience (5-10 year olds). In the end it was a success, we got great reviews and won an award for the most promising newcomers from the Society of Illiustrators in NYC and were published in 4 additional languages.
The Trailer
My brother and I storyboarded, co-directed and produced the trailer for our first picture book. Although we didn’t have much budget, our trailer won a Silver Medal from The Society of Illustrators in NYC for moving image.

A NYTimes bestseller. My brother and I were so honored to be asked to be part of this amazing book. This collection was a passion project of Maria Popova from The Marginalian and Claudia Bedrick from Enchanted Lion.
